Clelie Bourne

I have been assisting Moms and Dads, as The Temporary Nanny, since 1988. My experience varies widely and goes back to my teenage years when I was the neighborhood babysitter. I have often wondered how many babies I have cradled in my arms since then.

For the past 18 years, I have been providing temporary and emergency childcare in and around my hometown and across the U.S. It might be with a single infant, toddler or school age child; maybe a family of five, infant to teen; or newborn triplets; I might stay a weekend or for a three-week vacation; or 8 weeks so you can get some sleep. You name it and I have probably done it.

My passion has always been infants and toddlers, so gradually I began to concentrate on the field of Newborn Care Specialist. First, it was a set of twins at night for three months, then another set of twins at night for six weeks. I became totally hooked after 13 weeks of around the clock care for a third set of twins.

My focus has now become caring for newborn twins and triplets. The first few weeks of motherhood are very busy and with multiples, it can be overwhelming. My goal is to ease the new mother’s stress by providing skilled, comprehensive care for her babies and sharing my expertise in all areas of baby care, especially sleep training, to support and educate both her and the dad and make this time enjoyable and rewarding. Good sleep habits in infants are foundational to their overall health and happiness, not to mention that of the parents.

Newborn Care Specialist Services

24/7 or nighttime care
I can stay as little as two weeks or as long as 2 months and cover a 10 hour shift or around the clock 24/7 with breaks. The choice is yours. I offer complete care for your newborn plus all related tasks along with support and assistance for you, the new mother, as you recover. For round the clock care I nurture both baby and mother and handle all the daily baby related tasks. I will establish a good feed/wake time/sleep routine, by modeling all the tips and techniques I have learned over the years. This is best accomplished by starting from the day mom and baby come home from the hospital. All the while, I encourage mom and dad in your new role as parents.

Nursery organization
I will assist you in determining baby’s furniture needs and its placement, as well as the must have, might want and not necessary items from layette and equipment to burp clothes and bottles.

Clelie came to stay with us when my son Hunter was about 6 weeks old. Her experience, quiet calm and confidence were just what I needed. As a baby nurse, I never question my decisions. As a mom, I questioned every one of them, and it was so nice to have a professional whose experience and knowledge I trusted there to bounce things off of when I felt unsure. Clelie freely shared her opinion when asked, but was always polite about it, never pushy, and was always willing to discuss other options. She was helpful, and yet willing to learn along side me as we went through trial and error finding the best way to manage my son’s reflux. She was also extremely careful in her handling of him and listened closely to the instructions for caring for his disabled arm.

I will be forever thankful for the two weeks that Clelie shared with our family. It made all the difference in the world, and I have already told her the next time I am pregnant, I am reserving my spot on her calendar.
Tonya S., Sleep trainer and new mom

As a first time mother with absolutely no experience, the "temporary nanny" was the best welcome home gift that I could ask for! Clelie stayed for the first 10 days after my baby boy was born to teach me all of the basics from how to change (my first) diapers to how and why to swaddle my newborn. I learned many other essentials like how to pack the perfect diaper bag and how to make a proper bottle. Clelie also helped to relieve many of my first time mom jitters and gave me some much needed rest during those first 10 nights.

We could not have been more pleased with Clelie’s approach to infant care. Her knowledge of newborn care is vast, and her demeanor with our daughter was affectionate as well as efficient. She was able to work with us in encouraging our baby to sleep longer and longer throughout the night. She shared a lot of good tips with us, and I especially appreciated her attention to detail when it came to recording our daughters feeding and sleeping habits.
